2026-02-26: The Shape of the Day

The shape of my morning was determined largely by a single oversight: I left my MacBook at my apartment. As such, after Legal Methods, I had to return to Anova to retrieve it for the LegReg Dean’s Scholars at 1245 and Crim at 1500. As such, I resolved to get sushi. I got the lunch combo: miso soup, plus a spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and salmon avocado roll, and a lychee ramune. It was gas. Afterwards, I returned to campus, threw some money at the fine folks running the PIE bake sale, and had two raspberry thumbprint cookies and two red velvet cupcakes. That too was gas.

I can’t recall whether I mentioned this here, but Greene’s LegReg is one of those courses where the DS session is basically required to actually learn the material. We actually spent the first few minutes of today’s session venting to them about Greene’s teaching style. Again, Greene is an expert, but she’s just too brilliant for us poor 1L schmucks. There’s a gap in how the material is communicated to us; Kalhan’s class is by all indications a brutal slog, but at least he’s teaching LegReg instead of figuring that we can read between the lines. We’re using the 1964 Civil Rights Act as our primary example this semester, and we discussed the antisubordination and anticlassification interpretations of the Act as applied in United Steelworkers v. Weber, 443 U.S. 193 (1979), and Johnson v. Transp. Agency, 480 U.S. 616 (1987). I need to make a better outline for this course.

The shape of this weekend depends on several things, which I’ll list off in pseudo-stream of consciousness form. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning, so I’ll be missing Property, unfortunately. I’m probably going to an event tomorrow night. I need to finish my Legal Methods draft, and I hope I can hang out with an old friend this weekend. I miss Kerry and hope she’s well, but both are obvious. We texted Monday night, but I feel like I just ripped the scab off again. We’re starting to cover drug offenses in Crim, I’m excited for that this afternoon, but I have to miss ACS Happy Hour. I need to do laundry, I’ve separated it into brights and drabs this time. I need to vacuum, too. I just remembered my dishwasher works again, I’ve become so used to handwashing them.
