2026-03-10: Night Walks & Caveat Emptor

Springtime hasn’t begun yet, more so concepts of springtime, but I resolved to enjoy the night breeze. Around 8:30, I threw on my beige jacket/overshirt, grabbed a White Monster, and stepped into the dark. The sky was a dark navy for the first hour of walking, with glimmers of light (possibly illusory) towards the horizon. It was peaceful. I ended up in Drexel Park around 9:15. I could see the spires of Center City across the river.

The streetlight shone as a manmade moon over the park

I ended up returning to my apartment around 10; I had a chocolate bar and settled down for bed. Another restless night where I tossed and turned and tilted at windmills. Take a wild guess as to the theme of my dreams recently. I ended up “sleeping” until 8:30 this morning. It’s short-sleeve weather again, and with my weight loss, my shirts fit better than when I bought them. I channeled my inner millennial and made some avocado garlic bread, but I think avocado toast would have been better; it was a very savory breakfast, and I think something sweet (like a bowl of fruit) would have helped balance things out. In Property, one of the cases we covered was Wade v. Jobe, 818 P.2d 1006 (Utah Sup.Ct. 1991); I waited over five minutes to respond to Prof. Kahan’s request for comment on why the onus of maintaining property lies with the landlord, only to be cut off mid-thought. This is the first time I’m actually salty about something in Kahan’s class. My stammering when I’m cold-called is on me, and her quizzes are tough, but you can understand where you went wrong. This is something I was prepared for, though!

I just checked, and unfortunately, I’ve found a problem. MHLS Trivia Night and NLG Bingo Night occupy the same time slot tomorrow. I’m not sure what to do, since I have obligations to both orgs. I have D&D tonight, at the usual time. I’ll make sure to keep detailed notes so I can give a session recap. We’re liberating those caves if you recall. Before then, though, I have an ACS event to attend over lunch, my conference (where I fully and wholeheartedly expect to get dunked on) with Prof. Wolman at 2, and Crim with Prof. McGrain.
