Until recently, I’ve spent most of my adult life fairly heavyset. I’m naturally a big, bulky guy (cartoonishly so, arguably), or at least I’ve been that way since high school. But I put on a lot of excess weight during the Pestilence at the start of the New Twenties and it’s taken me a while to shed that. The benefits of which have been numerous, but a fun one is that when I was lugging around that excess weight, I also put on a fair amount of muscle (to help lug it around). Well, I’m no longer lugging that weight around (I’m this close to my goal weight) but the strength remains. Among other things I can run faster and jump higher, which is pretty fun. I still need to get my suits resized, or at least a new cummerbund/suspenders. Ones with strong clasps for once.
I’m currently outside in the courtyard. It was another dreary, rainy morning, but the sun’s shining and the air’s warm, and I went for a swim. Unfortunately my start in the solicitor’s department will, in fact, be postponed until next Monday, but such is life. At least I get a week to enjoy the pool and the sun, without having to worry about exams or law review or work.
I made a party playlist for the pool party Saturday. I sent out invites, but the problem is that this Saturday is packed with unrelated events in the city apparently. Maybe I could make it a weekly thing? In totally unrelated news my MacBook, gifted to me by Bryon Grigsby himself atop Mt. Paektu as double rainbows filled the sky, has not, in fact, died. Which is good because I still have more Daggerfall Unity mods to install. Unfortunately Vortex doesn’t work on Mac, so I have to actually pay attention to load order and whatnot. You know, like in the dark ages.
I like my new sunglasses! I think the green ones are best (I mean, it’s my color), but the gold look nice too. My dad was wondering if they were for cosplay or something because the lenses are on the small side, but that’s the point? Smaller lenses flatter my face shape given my brow and all that. I got complements going down the street when I got lunch the other day, so that was an ego boost.
I have the penultimate session of the campaign I’m running for DGA this spring tomorrow. After that I have the boss of the dungeon planned, and maybe some answers to the mysteries I’ve been setting up for the players. I plan on continuing it over the summer, maybe not with DGA since some of my players won’t be in Philly but definitely virtually, since we live in the Future and have the Technology. Worst case we use something like Miro. I mean, we use that for Incunabuli and Wolves Upon the Coast on Saturdays and it works well enough, jank aside. I plan on slowing advancement considerably, I’ll probably start tracking XP, at least in the background. If all goes well our heroes will end the dungeon (or this part of it, anyway) having just reached 6th level, and I hope to keep them there for longer than a couple of sessions.
As I write this it is now dusk. I plan on getting sushi soon, maybe watching a movie. The weather’s gonna be nice tonight, nice enough for a night walk.
