2026-08-30: Counting Down From One-Hundred

For your listening enjoyment. Alternate option.

It was certainly an interesting night. I may or may not have briefly fried my nervous system while meditating; unfortunately, I don’t have access to brain imaging equipment to say for sure, although the fact I didn’t need to go to the hospital suggests I’m Gucci. I received useful insights that will certainly be helpful moving forward; after dutifully writing down my experiences for posterity (and because it’s just screwing around otherwise), I called it an early night. However, my dreams contained nothing of particular significance, although I found myself oversleeping (better I oversleep on a Sunday than during the week).

Breakfast today was nothing. I wasn’t particularly hungry, although I’ve refrained from caffeine longer than usual. I solved that problem with some White Monster. I’m debating what to do for lunch; I might make some pasta, although I still have to clean my stovetop.

Mostly, though, I’ve been using my free time today for my hobbies. With my new calligraphy pens, I’m trying to get back in the swing of it. While retrieving my inks from my closet, I noticed I had an unopened bottle of ultramarine blue, a Christmas(?) gift from an old friend. I hope they’re doing well. It really is a fine ink; it writes smoothly and beautifully. On the topic of writing, I can’t remember if I shared a project I was working on before my brief hiatus from this blog; it’s a fairy-tale-esque story, very archetypal: “Jack Jongleur and the Widow Queen.” I got about midway through, when Jack was blown above the clouds to the Man-In-The-Moon and bluffed his way to the summit of Olympus, before exhaustion from the workday (among other factors) set in.

I had therapy at 5 PM Wednesday afternoon. It was a productive session; my therapist gave me a saying which, though said before, has stuck with me this time around: suffering comes from my judgment of others’ acts, not from the acts themselves. In other words, I’ve long poured fuel on the fire, but I can just not do that, actually. I know, shocking revelation. But it really is a hard pill to swallow; for most of my life, the judgments of others, of myself, of God have been recurring themes. If I may be candid (and I may, because this is my blog), there’s a difference between rationally knowing these to be untrue and feeling it; I’ve never been one to accept things as-is, to accept myself as-is. I want to say it’s time for a long-overdue change, but only time will tell if that pans out.

I haven’t made lunch yet. I did some light exercise, but I should probably go outside once the sun gets a bit lower in the sky. It’s a nice day, mostly.
