To open this post I must disclose a tragic and untimely loss; though not entirely unexpected, it still came as tremendous shock. Eleven minutes post 11, on the morning of the 3rd- after many attempts to get it to start- the circumstances forced my hand, and so it is with heavy heart: my laptop’s dead and gone. It served me faithfully for seven years: through the plague, through old friends and new, through love and loss, it soldiered on without complaint; even as its battery failed and memory sputtered it carried on. But now it’s dead, on the polished particle board table it sits a husk, void of electric life.
Waxing poetic aside, fate has forced my hand. My projected timeline for acquiring a new laptop has been reduced considerably. I’m aiming for something which can run the Oblivion remaster, in the hope it meets the minimum requirements for The Elder Scrolls VI: Daggerfall II.
Anyway, I unwisely decided to wear layers today; not much, just my pale beige knitted jacket, but as I write this it’s now ten degrees hotter than it was when I walked to campus. I had Professional Responsibility and it felt considerably longer than usual, like time had slowed to a crawl. I needed to spend more time adjusting my hair once I made it to campus due to the oppressive humidity. Afterwards I made my way to the LRC, which is where I discovered my laptop finally gave out. While waiting for my laptop to start charging (nothing I tried worked) I drew cards as a vibe check. If I had a nickel for every time I drew two of cups with queen of swords as a clarifier today, I’d have two nickels. Mind you, I have an extremely thorough shuffling method. It closely corresponds to other readings done within the past week, and while it could be confirmation bias (statistical analysis?) I’m inclined to give it at least some credence. Even trivial information is still Weird (in the classical sense) considering it’s obtained through shuffled cardboard.
I went to the NLG Brown Bag, despite not having packed a lunch; maybe I’ll get some tikka masala from the Indian cart (the cheap one by the 7-11 on Market Street). As I write this, the clock’s struck 1:30. I got combo tikka masala with extra sauce and garlic naan; excellent value, very filling. I don’t have Con Law for two hours yet, we’ll be covering McCulloch v. Maryland. As usual, I have more to say, but the details are fuzzy and slipping my mind. Many such cases!
